Here are the stats from Coach Paul's 50-Mile fundraiser!

Hello Friends,

Two weeks have gone by since I ran the 50.5 miler at Town Lake, and I am finally feeling back to normal.  We started that morning at 8 am sharp, and finished at 6:31 pm!

Thanks to generous supporters like you, we managed to raise $2, 525.00 online for Twenty-Six Two.

All totaled, 22 different people ran part of the way with me, and several more provided support at the aid station (massages, food).

Here are some statistics:
Miles run:  50.5 (actually I think it was closer to 51.1)
Total run time:  approx: 9 hrs, 40 min
Average pace:  11:29/mi
Estimated calories burned:  8,139
Consumed during run:  60 ounces of Carbo-Pro water;  60 ounces of Nuun water;  20 ounces of Endurox R4;  1 Coca-Cola;  10 e-Gels (Mountain Rush);  2 glazed doughnuts;  1 tube of Pringles potato chips;  3 flour tortilla-peanut butter wraps;  two handfuls of chocolate covered espresso beans;  half a peanut butter and jelly sandwich;  10 Thermolyte (electrolyte) caplets;  approx 20 ounces of plain old water.
Weight loss:  4 pounds
Clothing/shoe changes:  none...changed socks once
Number of times I said "I am ready to sit down now":  approx 30
Money raised for Twenty-Six Two:  Online: $2,525;  offline: $4,020;  raffle: $500

Now we are prepared to head to San Diego in June with the 11 women who make up the 2007 class of first-time marathoners.  Again, thanks to your contributions, we are able to provide unprecedented funding to underwrite the costs of the Spring Program.  I wish that there were some way you all could share with me the feeling of watching these women cross the marathon finish line for the first time...it is deeply rewarding.  We get a glimpse of that each weekend when they go a little further and further on long runs.  They might finish these training runs feeling exhausted, but they are proud and happy to say "I just ran farther than I ever have in my life!"  I know that feeling....

Thanks and best wishes,

Paul
