"Running a marathon is simultaneously one of the greatest tests and accomplishments a person can experience. It proved to me the importance of mental strength and humbled me beyond belief. How one can feel physically weak and mentally strong or vice versa is a true testament to life, and was a personal experience during my first marathon. Fortunately, overall, I felt pretty good and kept a positive, upbeat attitude.
I was unbelievably honored to be able to train with such an amazing group and this helped carry me through to the finish. The camaraderie I shared with everyone on the team is something I am grateful for. I learned the importance of encouraging and lifting others up, I learned that struggle does develop perseverance, and that pain can be quickly masked by the sense of great accomplishment. The whole experience was unforgettable and something I will never regret. I look forward to training and running another!"
"Let us run with endurance the race that is set before us."

"The marathon is more than just a physical test of endurance. It’s more than just getting up one morning and setting out on a tour of the city’s hills and views. It’s finding the highest limit your body and your mind can reach and then surpassing it. My marathon experience could never be described fully in words. To truly understand the physical, mental, and emotional ups and downs of pushing your body until it cannot go anymore (and then continuing on to the finish), you have to experience the marathon first-hand. Thanks to Twenty-Six-Two, I met a lifetime goal while learning about the art and science of running and gaining a wide base of support and camaraderie. And even though my first marathon was a challenging feat, I met my goal of finishing and I can’t wait to push myself beyond my limits to another marathon finish line!"

The journey of preparing for a marathon is an incredibly formative experience in more ways than just the physical fitness. The qualities developed in the training have many parallels in life, and I believe the inner transformation that happens in the weeks leading up to the race are just as valuable as accomplishing the marathon itself. I developed a greater capacity to focus on and complete the steps necessary to meet a goal, to be disciplined physically, mentally, emotionally, relationally, spiritually, and to not be intimidated by daunting tasks but to persevere to the finish. Finishing the race itself, through the mental and physical anguish at times, gave me a humble confidence in the ability overcome difficult trials as they arise in other aspects of life. I have a new sense of determination to meet challenges—and an excitement for the stronger person I become in the process.
The first marathon is an experience I will always remember--the relationships formed with team members, the lessons learned, the inspiration from the incredible coaching and role models present are benefits that I deem invaluable and will definitely carry with me into the future. There is a deep gratitude and joy upon reflecting on this entire opportunity of being a part of Twenty-Six Two!

In a marathon, you don't run 26 miles. You run 1 mile 26 times. It's amazing what you can accomplish when you break it down into manageable pieces.

Chris Hester The 26.2 Marathon Club and the coaching skills of Paul Carmona provided me with the opportunity and ability to accomplish the challenge of a lifetime. I learned to run my own race, set goals, be consistent, remain focused, persevere, and push my limits. I gained the experience, endurance and wisdom to run a lifetime of marathons!
