In my twenties, I called San Diego home. While there, I enjoyed running 10Ks , half marathons and even a triathlon, but never took running too seriously. After moving to Texas and starting a family, running began to elevate in importance, mainly due to the power it gave to control just one thing in my life! I was no longer working outside the home, but needed to create goals that weren't tied to my children's milestones: first step, first word, potty-training, you get the picture. I needed to have something of my own and this became running. I could control how far I ran, how often, and where.
After I set a goal to run my first marathon, Rock-n-Roll San Diego, I caught the bug and haven’t looked back. Since then, I’ve added Marine Corp, Chicago, Houston, Mardi Gras and Boston to my list. I often tell first-time marathoners that my legs are pretty sore after the marathons, but not as sore as my face. Smiling for 26.2 miles can be exhausting, but you try doing something you love without smiling!
A Twenty-Six Two member for one year, I am ready to apply my professional knowledge to the one thing I love: running. I look forward to helping our club be a place of inspiration for both future marathoner and veteran marathoner.
